What I've Been Doing Lately

Those of you who have been following Carla's smiles diligently will appreciate this one picture post. Here's a sample of the dramatic turn of events occuring in our household lately...

Kicking and Splashing

Carla did pretty good her first time in a pool. Check it out!

Carla Swims!

As new parents, we are quickly learning that the highlight of any vacation (or day for that matter) is watching your child experience or accomplish something new. That said, our favorite part of our trip to St. Louis over Memorial Day was taking Carla swimming for the first time. And as you'll see from the pictures below, she's a little waterbug in the making.

Getting ready.

Splashing with Mommy.

Are those my hands under there?

Doing the crawl with Daddy.

Smiling at my Daddy.

Say cheese!

Mommy's crazy.

Our hotel had a cool Lewis and Clark display.

The Arch - bottoms up!

A statue of Lewis and Clark in the Mississippi River.

This courthouse across the street from our hotel was where Dred Scott sued for his freedom.

A Mother's Touch

My first real Mother's Day as a mom is approaching and I have to say thanks to both of our moms. Without your love and guidance, we wouldn't be able to enjoy parenting Carla the way we do. Thanks for the love you've always held for us in your hearts. As a mom now I understand what that love feels like. The best way I can express it is with this picture below. The image of Carla's tiny hand wrapped around my finger is the best visual expression for the way her heart is now forever entwined with mine. I am sure that our moms feel the same way.

Happy Mother's Day!

Eight Months Old

This is the fourth new post I've put up today so make sure you scroll down to see all the new pictures. Here are some of my favorites from the last week.

Pretty girl, pretty dress.

Playing with my 'roach'

I drool purple.

No Carla in this shot but she has been helping me with the garden bed -it's a work in progress.

Daddy pushing Carla in the stroller - thought some of you would appreciate this shot!

All tuckered out.

If Carla were a boy, a little older and living in the 1950s, this would be a Christmas Story!

Playing with her turtle.

Bath time!

Forward Progress

I think that's what I'd call it. As you'll see in the video below. Carla does move forward for the first time but I wouldn't exactly call it crawling...yet. All the action is in the first five seconds, after that, I was just hoping she'd do it again. Enjoy!

Carla Does the Wabash

The Wabash Cannonball is a KSU football tradition. Students bob back and forth in time to the band's tune. When the whole stadium gets rocking it looks pretty incredible. Here's some footage of Carla doing the Wasbash Cannonball for the first time.

My First Trip to KSU

Kansas State University's campus resembles castle grounds more than it does a college campus. Built during the late 1800s, dorm and study halls alike are built from the limestone natural to the Flint Hills area of Kansas. We had the opportunity to introduce Carla to KSU for the 2008 Spring Football Game. Here are some of our favorite shots from the visit.

How could you not love this historic campus?
A purple tree - campus was full of them.
Close up of the tree. If anyone knows what this is, I would love to plant one at home.
